Supreme Court to Re-Hear Maratha Reservation Plea
The Supreme Court of India is set to re-hear the Maratha reservation plea, challenging the Bombay High Court's interim order on the Maharashtra State SEBC Act, 2024. This follows a 2021 SC ruling that struck down a similar quota for exceeding the 50% reservation cap (Indra Sawhney judgment). The new 2024 Act grants a provisional 10% reservation, pushing Maharashtra's total to 62%, again citing "exceptional circumstances."
